Photo messaging application Snapchat has been asking potential advertisers to pay $750,000 USD a day for its ads, as part of a new monetization strategy. Though the suggested rates are substantial, the reach the application has to its growing youthful audience is really incomparable to anything else out there with Snapchat topping 100 million monthly users. While the majority of the companies have baulked at the cost, a few have been brave enough to agree to this deal. However the brands won’t be able to see what type of individual will be viewing and engaging with the ad because there currently isn’t any age or gender breakdown on the users. Furthermore, the ads will disappear after a certain time, similar to the photo and video messages being sent between users.
