In an ode to the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Okayafrica has released a video of four flex-men in a choreographed routine to Kuti’s track “Zombie.” Okayafrica, a division of Okayplayer, is a platform which showcases music with African roots. Producer Allison Swank’s inspiration to make this video came after watching Flizzo and Jay Donn in a live performance. Flexing, a contemporary form of street dancing which originated in Brooklyn, draws some similarities with Afrobeat, with both using African-originated art as a form of expression. The film, which is directed by Dominick Sheldon, can be viewed above.
