After appearing on a rather savvy episode of The Simpsons last night (as himself), Elon Musk took to Twitter to debunk a few disparities in the cartoon’s plotline. After Musk’s character left Springfield in his headline-making Dragon Space Rocket, Lisa notes that “for a man who likes electric cars, [Musk seems to] burn a lot of rocket fuel” – surely a line of lighthearted jest from the show’s writers. Musk however, immediately tweeted in response to the implied question of his environmental morale, citing Newton’s Third Law to explain why electric space boosters are ineffective: “Must have more thrust than weight or you don’t go up” [sic]. What’s more, Musk goes on to address space elevators and railguns in his Twitter sequence. For all his genius in leaving the Earth, maybe sense of humor would help ground Musk as well.
