BMW Welt Point.One Solar Charging Station by EIGHT

Following the launch of the BMW i3 and i8 hybrid models earlier this year, fellow German company EIGHT has unveiled the world’s first solar charging point, proving that energy-efficient vehicles and their charging stations can be exciting and appealing to the eye. Installed at the BMW Welt in Munich, the Point.One S station features a canopy structure resembling a bird’s wing composed of an array of solar panels, which not only charges the car but feeds power back into the national grid. Although we are still far away from seeing these structures on a regular basis, its designs like this that give us a glimpse into a greener future.
