Luca Venezia has long been a mainstay in the U.S. club music scene, delivering throbbing dancefloor tunes under aliases Drop the Lime and Curses. Away from the EDM-indulged sound that’s populated the charts, Venezia continues to push the envelope in electronic music, blending rockabilly and northern soul with house and Baltimore club. The success of his early productions as Drop the Lime led him to start Trouble & Bass — a go-to record label for rowdy rave anthems. Aside from heading the New York-based label, Venezia’s work as Curses explores a genre he has coined “New Gotham House” — a darker strand of techno familiar to those attending New York’s after hours spots.
Now residing in Williamsburg, Venezia can mostly be found dressed in black, a guise he describes as “romance in the black moon’s light” – a style which consists of staples seen in his Essentials. Black Lip Service Needle Jeans are paired alongside his trademark fedora hat and All Saints black tee. Paying tribute to those close to him, a Terror Club scarf from Institube Records is placed next to a Safer At Night Crew jacket, while he also exhibits an ornamental necklace — a one of four Trouble & Bass 24k gold pendant belonging only to founding members of his label.
