Han Kjøbenhavn x Fritz Hansen Grand Prix Chair

Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen, renowned Danish furniture maker Fritz Hansen has chosen Han Kjøbenhavn for a reiteration of the designer’s iconic Grand Prix chair. What’s striking about the chair is the angular back frame, which is made from bent steel with a 4mm linen thread to create a webbed pattern and paired with either an oak or walnut seat. Moreover, the legs are made of oak wood as well but with a black lacquer finish to produce a contemporary interpretation of the iconic model, which focuses on craftsmanship, quality materials and aesthetics. Produced in limited quantities, the piece is currently being showcased in Han Kjøbenhavn’s stores in Copenhagen and New York. Check out the video below to see how these special chairs get made.
