It almost feels as though a day hasn’t gone by where Four Tet hasn’t had a headline attached to his name. From new music to new mixes, he’s been all over the place recently, and now the polymath-producer has sat down with Benji B on BBC Radio 1 for an interview as well as a mix. In the interview, Four Tet toucheseverything from his new Rome Fortune collaboration to the story behind J Dilla‘s remix of “As Serious as Your Life,” and even drops some snippets of upcoming tracks. He also shares the news of upcoming collaborations with the likes of grime don Terror Danjah and Jamie XX, and expounds on his recording process when collaborating with other artists. His backstory regarding his relationship with Burial is particularly interesting, with Four Tet saying:
“We went to school together, known each other since we were teenagers. We used to do art class together and stuff. When the first record came out on Hyperdub I bought it, and I was loving it, and then about a month later I got an email like ‘Hi it’s Will, I’ve started making music too,’ and it turned out that was his record. We hadn’t seen each other since school and we met up and talked. He said how much of a fan he was of my records and how that inspired him and stuff.”
