Remember the visceral reactions songs like “B.M.F.” or “Hard in Da Paint” evoked when you first started listening to them? Atlanta promoter/rapper Fly Ty is apparently trying to elicit the same responses with his new track “Usher Raymond.”
Featuring Cap 1, Lil Durk & this week’s chorus-king Juelz Santana, ”Usher Raymond” unites emcees from the bottom of the map to the top. With Juelz Santana’s hook revolving around the phrase “Usher Raymond,” the track possibly aims at becoming a part of the atmosphere of memes and catchphrases that permeates the banger and club market right now, but don’t count this out as some cookie-cutter cut built off sing-song cadences and melodic auto-tune. This is straightforward smash-windows-and-kick-down-doors music, with a beat meant to shatter your home’s foundation. Horns and keys are piled on like bullets being loaded into banana clips, and the drums would make Lex Luger proud.
Fly Ty will be releasing his full-length mixtape later in the summer, and his project promises work with the likes of Metro Boomin and Zaytoven.
