Nike Officially Unveils the Nike x PPP Collection
Born from a mutual love of basketball and celebrating the game’s ability to unite, Nike Sportswear
Born from a mutual love of basketball and celebrating the game’s ability to unite, Nike Sportswear has partnered with Pigalle – also known as the Pain O Chokolat crew – to release the Nike x PPP Collection. Combining sport heritage and style while bringing the spirit of Parisian creatives to the basketball court, the release includes high- and low-top versions of the always-classic Air Force 1 alongside a tank, shorts, graphic tee, hat and basketball. Both iterations of the timeless sneaker take inspiration from the patina that develops over time on a well-used court, employing wax-coated uppers that evoke the look of scuffed asphalt and rusted metal in conjunction with details like the removal of excess padding and addition of leather laces, oversized metal eyelets and transparent outsoles – complete with a geometric pattern modeled after a coach’s basketball diagram. For the tanks and shorts, Nike and Pigalle founder Stéphane Ashpool – a former professional basketball player – utilized special tie-dye treatments to create deliberate fades and distressing as a complement to the unique imperfections of the collaborative footwear. Finally, the tees, cap, and basketball all don the PPP logo in conjunction with stylized “NIKE AIR” branding. Named for Pigalle, Pain O Chokolat, and Paris’s Le Pompon, the Nike x PPP Collection will be available from select NSW retailers across the globe starting April 26.
