Omega Speedmaster Mark II Chronograph

Like footwear, the past few years for watches have seen a triumphant return of some of the most iconic models. Although not identical in every aspect, re-issues serve purpose in teaching the previous generations about a brand’s rich history, and for those that were not able to own the original, a second chance. For this year, Omega reintroduces a watch that was released the same year Apollo 11 landed on the moon, the Speedmaster II. The newly introduced Omega Speedmaster Mark II shares original characteristics in the 42mm case, but has been updated to reflect modern times. Featuring an automatic movement, Si14 silicon balance spring (for friction reduction), a Super-LumiNova tachymetric scale, AR-coated sapphire crystal and fluorescent orange accents, the chronograph is visible at night and is water-resistant up to 100 meters. No word yet on a release date, but like Tudor‘s Heritage Black Bay, it’s sure to get some discussion going in the watch world.
