Just moments after Complex released a Riccardo Tisci interview (seen here) in which the Givenchy creative director broke down his collaboration with Nike, the Beaverton enterprise took to the web to officially unveil the R.T. Air Force 1 collection. Always inspired by his deep-rooted love for basketball as well as Nike’s influence on the sport, Tisci’s choice of the Air Force 1 seemed like a no brainer, especially since it has been his sneaker of choice for so many years. While the unique tribal-like striping pays tribute to the team game of basketball, the premium leather construction mirrors Tisci’s affinity for first-class materials. More specifically, a tumbled leather appears on each Swoosh, tongues and heels feature a synthetic suede with heat-pressed TPU, the laces are finely waxed and the foxing stripes are screen printed. The collection itself will include four different styles – the Air Force 1 Low, the Air Force 1 Mid with a jacquard woven ankle strap, an exaggerated Air Force 1 High and the Air Force 1 Boot that extends to the knee.
The Nike + R.T. Air Force 1 collection will first release in white on March 21 at select locations including 151 Wooster; 21 Mercer; Dover Street Market New York, London, and Tokyo; 1948 London; Nike Stadium Milan; and X158 Shanghai among others. The black range will then be available globally sometime in May.
