POW WOW, a week-long art initiative that takes place annually in Hawaii kick started this year with “Exploring The New Contemporary Movement,’ an exhibition curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace Gallery. The opening exhibition took place at the historic structure of Honolulu Museum of Art School, where a long list of POW WOW artists both past and present displayed pieces on 2×2 canvases. Blessed by the featured artists in attendance, the exhibition showcased various themes and concepts; such as illustrative pieces from Dabs Myla, Shark Toof and Pam Glew alongside geometric styles from Curiot, Carl Cashman and Dalek. Elsewhere, participators stocked up on black books and POW WOW merchandise ahead of the dynamic week, while attendees enjoyed live mural sessions by Angry Woebots and Ekundayo next to a courtyard party held by local DJs. Cast your eyes over the recap images above and stay tuned for more new from POW WOW 2014.
