Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Respond to Criticism Regarding Their 'Rap Category' Success at The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards

Following criticism regarding their nomination throughout the 56th GRAMMY Awards rap categories, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took to the award show’s red carpet to respond to the negative comments. Controversy initially stirred with the duo’s placement in Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance over the likes of Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky and Kanye West, and has since been fuelled by the Seattle-based artists winning spot in all three of these categories (as well as Best New Artist and Best Music Video). Despite the controversy, the nominees themselves kicked off the night in a positive light, with Kendrick Lamar sending Macklemore the below congratulatory message.
