Takahiro Miyashita of TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst. and Takayuki Fuji of nonnative have teamed up for a new personal project called Sand.W.Man (pronounced Sandman). Starting things off for Sand.W.Man is a two-piece footwear offering consisting of the #001/hike and the #002/snow, both of which are constructed using French cow suede. The #001/hike takes cues from classic hiking footwear and features a moc toe, rugged outsole that has been joined to the upper using a traditional Norwegian welt construction that has been finished with natural pine resin for a waterproof seal. The #002/snow boots feature a vintage tan finish and are lined with warm Mouton wool. Both models utilize uppers that have been oiled and buffed to ensure water resistance and every pair has been sealed in a warehouse for one year after production to give the finish a chance to seal and develop a rich texture and finish. Sand.W.Man plans on releasing its goods on an intermittent basis and this first batch will be available at select stockists in the coming months.
