French graffiti and urban artist André Saraiva has teamed with champagne professional Fabien Gay and media entrepreneurs Fabien Moreau and Alexandre Sap to launch an exclusive champagne brand this fall. Working under the banner of Artéis & Co, the team will produce three micro-cuvées: Artéis & Co Brut (1999), Artéis & Co Brut Rosé (2007) and Artéis & Co Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs (2002). Though applicable to wines as well, when used to describe champagne, a cuvée is the first batch of juice to be gently pressed out of a certain amount of grapes and can also refer to a specific blend of juices taken from special vats.
To realize the new venture, Fabien Gay combined his years of working with prestigious brands including Pommery, G.H. Mumm and Perrier-Jouët with his passion for the artisanal craftsmanship of champagne (the name “Artéis” means art in latin). To this end, Saraiva brings his talents and renowned edgy style to his role as the brand’s artistic director, helping to bring a new aesthetic to champagne’s image. For the release, Saraiva has also designed the labels featured on the bottles using a simple but instantly recognizable combination of black and gold.
Artéis & Co will officially launch during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and will be available at exclusive venues including Le Baron at its New York, Paris, London and Tokyo locations, Hôtel Amour in Paris, and select André Balazs properties including its The Standard Hotels and Chateau Marmont.
