“In 1993 two professional skateboarders, a celebrated director, and their hostage decided to start their own adventure.” Twenty years later, that adventure is still going as well as ever as Girl Skateboards celebrates two decades of business here in 2013. To mark the occasion, the brand recently kicked off a retrospective exhibition at LA’s Known Gallery. Featuring a display of seemingly every board Girl has put out over the years, the display even includes a Crailtap pop-up shop while a number of skateboarding heavyweights were on hand – along with the soon-to-be-defunct Skateboarder Magazine – last week to open the celebratory exhibition with an apropos party. Take a look at the recap above and be sure to head on over to Known Gallery to check out the display first hand – the exhibit is set to remain open through August 30.
