Tony Hawk's Final Ride On His Very First Skateboard

Tony Hawk is the man. No eloquent passages or braggadocios in Yeezus dialect depicting his excellence needed; this guy did more for skateboarding than anyone with a gnarly kickflip could ever imagine. Matching a perfectionist drive with a kind disposition, he brought an entrepreneurial spirit to the rebellious culture of skateboarding, in turn delivering it to the world through video game franchises, Hollywood appearances, annual skate competitions, philanthropy and more. Looking back to where it all began, Hawk takes his first ever skateboard out for one last ride before it’s sent to Washington, D.C. to display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Hawk said of his ride, “Bearings that are nearly 40 years old are pretty slow, but at least it stayed in one piece.”
