Who said modern art wasn’t sweet? Clearly, pastry chef Caitlin Freeman thinks it is. Currently working for Blue Bottle Coffee in New York, she’s just released a new cookbook inspired by an exhibition in San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art, where Blue Bottle also has a cafe.
Consisting of 27 edible pieces of art inspired by the likes of Warhol and Matisse, among others, Freeman hasn’t left out some of the less-experienced appreciators modern art and even more inept bakers out there in her book. She has included the names and definitions of equipment used in recreating her baked works as well as the back story behind each of them.
Check out both her discussion of her new book as well as the museum-based cafe where the works were conceived.
