New music from Toronto’s favorite dreaded crooner comes in the form of a trippy two-track ride: “Kiss Land/John Carpenter.” Having given fans a snippet of “John Carpenter” earlier this week, The Weeknd now unveils the full version of the song in a smooth transition from the previously unreleased “Kiss Land.” The first part of this seven-minute wonder finds Mr. Tesfaye slyly remarking on the state of things since a boom in popularity, offering lyrics spun with a hip-hop-esque sense of boasting. “John Carpenter” sounds exactly as it should: a development on the sounds found in Trilogy, yet with a more mature feel. Both tracks are available for streaming above, and will likely be featured on The Weeknd’s forthcoming sophomore LP.
