Rick Genest – best known as Zombie Boy – has appeared on Rebel Ink Magazine‘s March 2013 cover. Photographed by Joey L, the sideshow performer, model and walking skeleton is pictured with a cohort of naked women – forming the silhouette of a human skull. Inspired by a classic image created by Salvador Dali and Philippe Halsman called In Voluptate Mors, the cover shoot curates the dispositions of mortality and visual art, with Rick Genest sprawled across the center displaying the ubiquitous trademarks – thanks to likes of Nicholas Formichetti and Lady Gaga – of the human canvas. Adding to the continuous story of body art from the American zine, here are the outtakes of the shoot, with the human skull hosting symbolic reference throughout.
