Is Jeremy Scott Using Graphics from Jim Phillips?

Making the rounds today on the internet wormhole are reports that at times controversial and kitschy designer Jeremy Scott has been accused of stealing the artwork of legendary father/son skateboard design duo Jimbo and Jim Phillips. Additionally, further sleuthing has uncovered striking similarities between a piece in Scott’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection and a stencil by the political artist Michael Roman. While Scott has reappropriated imagery in the past – with Bart Simpson’s face immediately coming to mind – Spin notes, “Matt Groening can take a hit, but we’re betting that Jimbo’s not sitting on a multimillion-dollar industry based on some trippy faces he came up with in the ’80s.” In taking to his own Facebook page, Jimbo Phillips has linked to this Instagram photo that undeniably shows that the designs from the legendary Santa Cruz skateboard graphics tandem have been jacked.
