Although many of the latest fashion innovations have come in the form of “wearable technology,” there still remains a lot of room for basic enhancements to both the form and function of certain clothing archetypes. Enter Aarmir Patel and his Silic hydrophobic, self-cleaning T-shirts. Utilizing a unique nanotechnology with silica particles bounded into its fibers, most liquid molecules won’t even touch the shirt thanks to a microscopic layer of air that forms between said liquid and the fabric itself. Unlike similar hydrophobic products, the Silic shirts are totally safe and washable with the ability to retain their properties up to 80 wash cycles. With 37 days still to go in its Kickstarter campaign, Silic has exceeded its pledge goal with plenty of rewards still available.
