While the news of M.I.A., Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Arcade Fire, Eminem and Lady Gaga hitting the stage this year’s YouTube Music Awards gathered all the headlines, acclaimed producer, Flying Lotus, decided to share his thoughts on the award show’s choice of nominees. Taking to Twitter to voice his opinion, FlyLo went on to say that he felt the YTMAs were pointless and practically a mirroring image of MTV’s VMAs, and that they didn’t capitalize the opportunity to highlight deserving and innovative artists.
Seems like the YouTube music awards are pretty much the same as the VMAs. I don’t really see the point.

If it’s all about hits sure I get it but let’s be fair. YouTube award nominations clearly don’t care about cutting edge/innovation. — FLYLO FM (@flyinglotus) October 22, 2013
They had an opportunity to shine a light on all the artists that they helped to gain notoriety just to shit on them for uber famous acts — FLYLO FM (@flyinglotus) October 22, 2013
No disrespect to the nominees yadda yadda
