A recent court case between two prominent electronics labels amounted to a fine in excess of a billion dollars when Samsung was ordered to pay Apple to the tune of $1.049 billion. The one-sided affair saw Samsung win none of its own patent claims as it marks a new era in America’s patent landscape. It was claimed that patents from Apple’s ever popular range of products including the iOS interface were infringed upon by Samsung on multiple levels. A quick verdict was reached assisted by the fact that many Samsung products were still in fact for sale today. The Verge has comprehensive coverage of the whole case including the infringing products.
