With the news of Drake taking the role of executive producer of Aaliyah’s first posthumous album, and even more recently the single “Said Enough” releasing, family members of the songstress are now speaking up against the release of the project. Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton has recently spoken with The Guardian and he states:

There is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.

Many fans of the singer have voiced their opinions about release of the project and felt that longtime Aaliyah supporters and friends Timbaland and Missy Elliott should both be involved with anything to do with the release of her unreleased material. Drake even went as far as reaching out to Timbaland and he is now apparently set to produce two songs for the album, while Noah “40” Shebib will be taking on the duties for the rest of the LP. At the moment, it looks like Drake doesn’t need the support of the Haughton family, as the rights to the unreleased material most likely belong to Aaliyah’s uncle and manager, Barry Hankerson. Hankerson and Drake’s labels both co-released “Said Enough” through their individual labels, and the same could apply for the full album. We’ll keep you posted as additional information is revealed, but feel free to share your thoughts on the situation down below.
