As fans continue to buy “Mercy” by the boatload—the song has officially gone platinum—in anticipation for the August 7 release of the G.O.O.D. Music album, Cruel Summer, it appears there’s now even more to look forward to from the camp. On the red carpet of the 25th annual ASCAP Awards last week in Los Angeles, MTV’s Rob Markman stopped Kanye West’s longtime friend, mentor and collaborator, Grammy award-winning producer No I.D., and talked to him about his current involvement with West’s music. Although the Vice President of Def Jam Records stated that he’s not working on Cruel Summer, he did reveal some pertinent information regarding West’s sixth solo album, including that it is “coming right after” Cruel Summer. Read excerpts from the short interview below, and see the full thing above.
“I’m not working on that album (Cruel Summer). I’m working on his album. I mean, it’s Kanye. You know what to expect when it’s him. He hasn’t missed yet; I don’t expect him to miss. I just support in whatever way I can…The album’s good. He’s coming right after that (Cruel Summer)…It’s what you expect and everything you don’t expect. It’s going to be great.” – No I.D.
