Curren$y sues Damon Dash for releasing albums without permission

Curren$y is suing Damon Dash for releasing his music without his consent. As TMZ points out, Spitta and the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder intended to negotiate a deal to release music via DD172 in 2010. However, the deal never materialized which led Dash to release two of the rapper’s albums that year without executing a contract. The Jet Life general signed with Warner Bros. Records but Dash continued to release his music, although the label owned exclusive rights to it. Consequently, Curren$y is suing Dash for $1.5 million in damages and demands that he stop profiting off of him in any way. Jay-Z’s former business partner has already issued a response, claiming that he had the right to release the albums in question because he was given permission. A judge has yet to rule on this case.
