Madonna says M.I.A.'s innapropriate Super Bowl gesture was "a teenager, irrelevant thing to do"

The gesture seen around the world, M.I.A.’s flipping of the bird during last Sunday’s well-received Super Bowl Halftime Show, still has many people up in arms, including the headlining artist herself, Madonna. Check below to see just what the legendary musician had to say in regards to her co-performers insensitive act. Do you agree?

“I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity; it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do. … There was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”
