Ke$ha's "Die Young" Pulled From Radio Stations In Wake of Connecticut Tragedy

For obvious reasons, Ke$ha‘s current hit single has been losing a large amount of steam this week. In the wake of the tragic and unfathomable school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut last Friday, the United States is in a state of hypersensitivity and is far from back to normal. Every business, company and person is being cautious to ensure the “too soon” line isn’t crossed, and that includes radio stations. As DJs adjusted their playlists this week, many cut out Ke$ha’s controversially titled “Die Young,” which currently sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. All in all, the track is down approximately 19 million radio listeners this week. In a tweet that has since been deleted, the 25-year-old singer addressed the topic by saying “I understand. I had my very own issue with ‘die young’ for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO.” She then rephrased herself with a more mature statement, showing that she too is still shaken up over what transpired on Friday morning.
