The artist Angry Woebots‘ panda-heavy works often deal with the themes of struggle, anger and stress, and it’s a theme all too familiar to the artist. Having survived a near-fatal car crash in 1999 and subsequently moving to Seattle, where he often found himself indoors due to the rain, the artist had plenty of material for inspiration. Fast forward to 2002 and the artist’s first showcase and he’s been on a roll since; painting over a thousand pandas in his trademark style as well as creating plush figures, costumes, sculptures, and dabbling in graphic design and illustration. Working with his preferred medium of acrylic paint on wood or canvas, the artist has shared his messages of struggle, rebirth and coming back stronger than ever. In this latest Pen & Paper, we take a look at the artist’s inimitable style as he works up a special tribute panda for HYPEBEAST.
