Plastering an epic 150 square meters in artistically-cut CNC vinyls, London-based graphic designer Alex Fowkes helps industry titan Sony Music celebrate 125 years of musical history. Located within the walls of the record label’s Derry street headquarters, the grand timeline covers 54 columns and stands two meters tall, featuring 1,000 artists from 1887 to the present day. Included are obvious heavyweights such as Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan and The Clash, all interspersed between a lengthy list of other names. Also included within the mural are mentions of key technological developments, musical formats and corporate history in a bid to share the label’s storied past.
