Beyoncé remains on top of album charts

It appears that the release of her latest video for “Best Thing I Never Had” has had a positive effect on Beyoncé’s album sales last week. Her fourth solo offering, 4 is sitting comfortably on top of the Billboard albums chart for the second week in a row. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the songstress sold 115,000 copies which, however, also signifies a 63% drop from its first week.

The highest debut on the albums chart is R&B singer Lloyd at No. 10 with King of Hearts, with 26,000 sold units in its opening week. This marks the crooner’s third top 10 entry as it follows 2008’s “Lessons in Love,” which debuted and peaked at No. 7 off a 51,000 launch. Due to Independence Day (that is not a popular release date for the music industry in general), Lloyd’s new album is the lone debut within the top 40 of the Billboard 200.
