Herman Miller by George Nelson Basic Cabinet Series

Herman Miller announces the first in a series of product reintroductions from its collection of designs by George Nelson, kicking off May 21, 2011. George Nelson was Herman Miller’s Director of Design from 1945-1972. After taking the role, he maintained his independent design practice and deftly carried on the company’s course of producing contemporary furniture made from minimal materials appropriate to the emerging modern lifestyle. Designed by George Nelson in 1946, the Basic Cabinet Series was produced as a modular system of simple case goods intended for the home or office. A wide array of individual pieces all readily interchangeable for complementing any room, the Basic Cabinet Series was known for its practical storage areas and handsomely designed exteriors. Today, the series includes four chest-cabinet combinations available in two handsome veneer options, including light brown walnut and natural oak. All the pieces coordinate in size, shape and design and work in either vertical or horizontal arrangements to achieve a custom-made, built-in look.
