"Essential Eames" Exhibition @ HKDI Gallery

The work of Charles and Ray Eames is set to have an exhibition at the HKDI Gallery, called “Essential Eames.” If you haven’t heard or seen the work of the husband and wife partnership of Charles and Ray Eames, then you have missed out on more than a half-a-century long influence in the architectural and furniture-design worlds. Their pieces are known for their uniquely contoured shapes, functional and modern designs, and comfort and durability. Since post-World War II times, they produced iconic work that still has a profound effect on modern designers, while still revered and circulated amongst the market today. The HKDI Gallery and Herman Miller worked together to bring us an exhibition that will showcase the Eames’ classic chair designs, photography, toys, architecture and graphic design pieces. But besides work pieces, viewers will also get to see personal photos from the iconic couple, providing a insightful looks into their creative world, their struggles and failures throughout their career, and how design and lifestyle merged to define them until their passing. The overall result is a never-before-seen perspective on the celebrated Eames name. The “Essential Eames” exhibition will run until December 2 at the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong.
