ARCADE 44 recently spoke to young New York based designers Simon Spurr and Timo Weiland during their Spring 2011 collections for the (capsule) menswear show in New York. Both working in American style menswear, the pair have a diverse approach. Timo Weiland was named by GQ as a “designer to watch” having debuted his originality-inspired line in 2009. While Simon Spurr was a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominee, having learned his trade at several high profile labels including Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Yves Saint Laurent before launching his label in 2006, which draws influence from Savile Row. Both designers share a commitment to fine tailoring and like to explore new angles in menswear, thus changing the sartorial aesthetic of the American Man. Enjoy!
