Aligned with six of New York’s hottest magazines, popular car manufacturer smart presented a project of epic proportions this past September. Allowing each publication to create their own vision of the future, they took it to the streets, creating hand-painted, photorealistic murals in the SoHo and Brooklyn neighborhoods of New York City. Featured magazines in the project included City, Dossier Journal, Nylon, Pin-Up, Theme and Z!nk. The artworks were created in collaboration with established artists such as Andy J. Miller for Nylon and Kenzo Minami for Theme, as well as up-and-coming artists like Josh Slater for Dossier Journal. Offered below is a behind-the-scenes visual look into the creative head’s behind this intriguing initiative. Further information on “The Future of The City NYC”, as well as smart, can be found directly through smartusa.com, while the project itself will remain in full effect through October 31st, 2010.
