Our next upcoming 3 Year Anniversary product release showed up in the office this week. The execution and planning of this upcoming tee is definitely something we’re quite happy with and hopefully will resonate with our readers. Look for more info to become available including its release later this month, for now here’s our weekly staff picks including Baxter x Estate LA, Alan Jaras’ Photography of Light, Baby Milo’s latest twists and Complex’s upcoming magazine covers featuring four respected individuals/entities.
Kevin – Alan Jaras Photography of Light
Utilizing what seems to be a quite simple process, Alan Jaras’ Photography of Light is an interesting execution. I was never aware that you could achieve these sorts of photographs without a lens, creating a surreal image. Having said that, this sort of plays along with the notion that some of the most beautiful things in the world are can’t be seen with the naked eye.
Jason – Bape “Run DMC” Baby Milo T-shirt
Bape is a brand that I’m subjected to quite frequently however it often doesn’t really do much for me in enticing me to open up the wallet. However despite the “cute” (…pause) nature of Baby Milo, done up in Run DMC styles makes for a baddass combo. We all know Bape’s been getting slagged by everybody high and low, but despite this I still think the brand will continue to last for some time.
Season – Lupe Fiasco | NERD x Complex Magazine
A lot people claim that print is dead with everyone getting their daily dose of news from around the world-wide-web. Even though I completely disagree with that; it is definitely nice to see magazines stepping up their game with artist contributions for both cover and content. The trend seem to have started from the KAWS x i-D Magazine and now Complex Magazine is doing something similar with artwork from KAWS and REAS. I will definitely be picking up a copy (or multiple) of this upcoming issue. I hope that there will be more similar projects to come, maybe even with higher-end magazines having spreads reminiscent of KAWS earlier artworks of Kate Moss Calvin Klein ads in New York!
Eugene – Baxter of California x Estate LA
The concept behind this drew immediate interest to me. Interesting how the fitted cap from its origins on the baseball diamond can now find themselves at the center of a collaboration with a top men’s product brand in Baxter of California. I think it really hit the mark as it draws light to both brands by educating each respective brand’s clientele. Not to mention the product itself looks phenomenal.
