Nike SB Dunk Low "Mondrian"

From the looks of things upcoming products from Nike SB, the Nike SB recession experienced in recent memory seem to be looking up for the multi-billion dollar brand which really shouldn’t come as any surprise to many. An upcoming Dunk Low draws its inspirations from famous Neoplasticsm movement abstractionist artist Pieter Cornelius Mondrian. The use of multiple colors does not detract from the overall cohesive simplicity of the design. No word yet on a release date. Source: Crooked Tongues

Converse Conversations: Celebrating 1HUND(RED) Artists

This year has marked a monumental stage in Converse’s long and storied history. Reaching the century mark has been no easy task for any brand, however through the strengths of Converse’s marquee products, the brand has created a lasting legacy as it looks towards the future. Their strong foundation has enabled them to create and lead strong humanitarian efforts such as the (PRODUCT) Red campaign which since day one has set out to help in the battle against AIDS. The centurion mark along with the (PRODUCT) Red project came together in an event celebration titled Celebrating 1HUND(RED) Artists. (PRODUCT) Red was conceptualized as a means for some of the world’s leading creative minds to create original artworks highlighting the struggle against AIDS. Although it would be difficult to list all one hundred contributing artists, the list includes Rostarr (USA), Rinzen (USA), Michael Schall (USA), Hiroshi Fujiwara (Japan), Jeremyville (Australia), Michael White for Dondi White (USA), Colletivo Design (Brazil), Grandpeople (Norway), Supakitch (France) and UPSO (USA). The March 27th event was highlighted by DJ performances by Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) and special sets by Simian Mobile Disco and DJ Spencer Sweeney. The installations were designed by a few of the New York based contributors, Rostarr, Rinzen and Michael Schall. The collection of sneakers will release over the upcoming months, with 10% of wholesale price of each product sold benefiting The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. When it was first sported on the feet of Kanye West, everybody was getting their panties in a knot over what the deal was. The latest colorways feature a metallic silver colorway as well as previous styles including cowhide leather with patent in both white and black. At a price of ¥30,450 JPY (approximately $306 USD), the price if you have a Japanese hook-up is respectable for what some consider a high end fashion sneaker. Available now for pre-order at Rowgage

adidas Skate Mark Gonzales Gazelle

For most big athletic brands, their initial foray into the skate market starts off with basic bread and butter models i.e. the Dunk, Gazelle, Campus etc. One of adidas’ biggest endorsed athletes Mark Gonzales put down his own style and art work on this busy version of the adidas Skate Gazelle. This is definite rare look for a sneaker that is more often and not restricted to simple/monocrhomatic colors. Of course the sneaker comes complete with the added skate properties necessary including increased heel cushioning and thick lining. Source: Caliroots
