As the musical landscape takes an obvious digital route, we’ve seen the subsequent death and loss of focus on the once iconic album cover. In an appropriate re-visitation, Gallery 1988 are hosting their exhibition titled “Cover Band” as in excess of 50 different artists each took popular and well-known album cover and added their own little twists and social commentary. Here’s a look at some of the pieces showing which include Nirvana’s Nevermind by Mark Brown, Ramones’ Rocket to Russia by Kiersten Essenpreis, Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique by Phoneticontrol and The Beatles’ Hard Days Night by Israel Sanchez. The exhibition starts today via an opening reception and runs until October 31st.
