To celebrate 15 years of technical innovation inspired by the mountains and the LA lifestyle, 686 teamed up with headwear maker New Era to create a series of products marking this milestone event. Embracing the snowboarding background of 686, a series of performance products were created such as jackets, pants alongside lifestyle products such as t-shirts, wallets and fitted caps. Seen here are the History jacket and 59Fifty jacket. Both jackets incorporate a first for each brand in the form of a built-in waterproof New Era 59Fifty cap. Despite the aesthetic features, each jacket is full of technological features which provide wearers with a comfortable day on the hill. Named the "wawa aba", the ball utilizes colors derived from the Ghanaian national flag, the hosts of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. The use of the name, "wawa aba" includes various powerful references. For the Western African Akan culture, the name "wawa aba" is a symbol of persistence and the belief in strength and team spirit of the community. As well the wawa aba seed of the wawa tree is among the strongest and most usable woods in Africa. With the significant rise in football success for the African continent within the last few years, it was important for adidas to link this prestigious tournament and its own branded ball.

Alife has also created a series of matching t-shirts to correspond with the upcoming release of the Alife x Asics Gel Lyte III sneakers. These t-shirts include the Alife logo in a reptilian print with the same eyeballs as seen on the Asics. Both sneakers and t-shirts will release on Saturday, October 27th at Alife’s three locations, Vancouver, Los Angeles and New York. Some pairs will also be available online at Alife, however no tees will go on sale online. The sneakers and tees are priced at $200 USD and $40 USD respectively.
