New shoes have been released from the Japanese label Visvim. The brand new Visvim FBT Lhamo-Folk looks a lot like the FBT Bear Foot-Folk but is actually slightly different. While both shoes offers the FBT flaps, the midsole on the FBT Lhamo-Folk is a bit higher than the Bear Foot-Folk. The Visvim FBT Lhamo-Folk also comes in diferent colorways including a really nice white colorway and also a grey one. These Visvim FBT Lhamo-Folk are not for everyone though as they cost 39,900 Yen (~ $370 USD) but what you're buying is something of really nice construct and quality. Available now at Shaft.

A few months ago, Visvim founder Hiroki Nakamura previewed an upcoming sub-line of Visvim titled the Folk series. In recent memory, Nakamura has shed much light through interviews on his design ethos as well as his concept behind this Folk collection. Although not based entirely based around ecological factors, the Folk collection will utilize vegetable tanned leathers which offer uncompromised breathability and comfort unlike traditional leather materials. Also touched upon by Nakamura is the relationship of technology and environmental preservation. Although Visvim's other sub-collection G-Line seemed to be deviating from the path which once made Visvim so popular, the Folk collection is much more a return to Visvim's traditional roots. An interview with Honeyee can be seen here.

In some ways, the FBT can be considered the face of Visvim's footwear collection representing the brands success in creating their own reinterpretations of popular classics with an almost obsessive attention to quality and detail. A new series of elk skin FBTs have released in three colorways, consisting of black, brown and white. With the most recent leather releases coming in the form of the Christmas Pack, the buttery soft elk skin is a better indication of Visvim's dedication to quality. Currently available at Chapter World with a price tag of ¥37,800 JPY (approximately $355 USD).

As foreshadowed recently by our update on Hirofumi Kiyonaga's upcoming debut of his three brands, here's a look at SOPHNET.'s 2008 Spring/Summer Collection. The collection reveals a collection of sophisticated contemporary classics which stress material and fit. Among the interesting stylistic approaches are the sweat pant bottoms and crops.
