Trek has been consistent in a more artistic approach to their select bicycles through collaborative ventures as few other parties can bring the same unique vision as ARTCRANK. ARTCRANK is a bicycle-inspired poster show that highlights to the works of talented local artists. With a mutual team up that works on their penchant for bikes, both have worked together to bring a fresh perspective to the District model. Trek has been an active proponent in pushing art through cycling. With a well-known relationship involving the likes of Shepard Fairey and Lance Armstrong, their newest artist-designed bike is the Fabian Cancellara Madone 6.9 SSL created by artist Hydro74. The bike, which will enjoy its debut during the 2011 Tour de France, embodies a theme inspired by Spartacus and the gladiators. A stunning visual creation referencing the ancient times of Greek warriors makes for a visual identity that falls in-line with Cancellara’s personality as a rider and physique. The bike will be available for custom order as of Friday, July 1 as part of Trek’s Project One custom bike program.

With the STAGES show now fully wrapped up, Trek offers a closer look into its one-off District bike made in collaboration with Lance Armstrong. Among the many features, the bike boasts a carbon fiver frame, carbon fiber composite yellow belt drive system, and hints of LIVESTRONG yellow within a mostly black design.

The massive artist-driven bike initiative STAGES involving Lance Armstrong and TREK has hit The Armory in New York. In what is the last stage of the global touring bike showcase, this is among the last opportunities to check out the exclusive bike designs which include contributions from Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, Marc Newson, Yoshitomo Nara, KAWS, and Damien Hirst. The event also created in association with Nike Sportswear will conclude on October 22nd with the auction taking place on November 1st in benefit of the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Having already seen most of the special bike designs for Lance Armstrong, Trek reveals a closer look into the latest design, created by Yoshitomo Nara. Much like previous designs by artists such as KAWS, Shepard Fairey, and Damien Hirst, this latest silhouette finds artistic value focuses on the signature aesthetic of Nara’s artwork. For sporting enthusiasts, many of you are aware of Lance Armstrong’s current attempt at a record breaking 8th Tour de France championship. Following a break from competitive riding, Lance Armstrong was also seen active in the art community as a number of popular and influential artists contributed to his recent STAGES project with Nike. Set to be unveiled during the 8th stage of the Tour de France is this parituclar frame design by one of the world’s most prolific artists, Damien Hirst. Having seen Lance Armstrong ride bikes designed by the likes of Futura, Yoshimoto Nara, and even Damien Hirst, it was no surprise to see the unveiling of his newest bike, created by industrial design genius Marc Newson. The bike was worked up for cancer awareness during this year’s Tour de France, in which Lance will take on the quest of winning his 8th title after overcoming cancer himself. Utilizing a TREK platform, the bike features the official LIVESTRONG colorway, sporting a black body with vibrant yellow details throughout as well as a stroboscopic design infused onto the rear wheel.
