A Bathing Ape’s no stranger to the world of collaborative toys. While Medicom Toy and the Bearbrick has long been the quintessential form for a BAPE toy, the Japanese but now Hong Kong-owned streetwear giant reappropriates the classic Optimus Prime through this Convoy Black Version (Convoy is the Japanese name for Optimus Prime). While not fully murdered out, you get an idea of the theme as the Chief Commander loses his signature red and blue colors in favor of a muted aesthetic.

It goes without saying that director Michael Bay’s latest action flick, Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon, will likely go down in history as one of the most visually exciting films of our time. Behind all of the action sequences and special effects, however, was a team of talented men who were dedicated to producing the sounds that complimented these visuals and brought the movie to life. Under Bay’s direction, the sound team spent countless hours in the studio and in the field, mixing, recording and even creating sounds that matched up flawlessly with the film reels. Using techniques that ranged from allowing metals to resonate on dry ice to shooting machine guns and delta rockets under the supervision of armed military escorts, the sound team was able to create a bold and dynamic mix of organic and synthetic sounds that helped complete the blockbuster film. Iconic Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape has always been on the top of its game when immersed in popular culture, so it makes sense that they have collaborated with the Transformers brand in honor of the upcoming film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Riding the Transformers wave, Pedal ID work up a new toy bike featuring artwork from the iconic Transformers franchise.
