Located on the northwestern coast of Majorca, Spain lies Sa Foradada – Emilio Fernandez’s 40-year-old paella restaurant. Cooking delicacies and treats like squid, cuttlefish, mussels, prawns, clams, crab legs and sea bream, Fernandez and daughter Lidia use simple methods of preparation and traditional techniques like grills and cast-iron pans to create dishes that are as diverse in composition as the surrounding Mediterranean. Todd Selby recently ventured to Sa Foradada where the entire experience was documented in visuals and audio. The Selby recently visited Auckland, New Zealand’s Coffee Supreme, turning his trained eyes on the decadent creation of a beverage that is enjoyed the world over. Home to bean experts and all manner of brewing equipment, those who work at Coffee Supreme have an attention to detail that rivals the great painters of the past. For those of you who are lost without a morning cup of java, you’ll be able to appreciate the fuss of taking ground products and turning that newfound energy into productivity.

The Selby once again explores spaces of the ultra creative, this time venturing into an entire space operated and owned by couture house, Fendi. Shot October 2011 in Rome, this series showcases a collection of photographs in celebration of The Whispered Grand Tour. Included are the exclusive and elusive unveiling of the Maserati GranCabrio Fendi and the launch of the second installment of The Whispered Directory. Only seen by the eyes of few, we get a peek of the Fendi Palazzo, Silvia Fendi: one of the many Fendi Ateliers and some of the craftswomen that are usually behind-the-scenes.

The newest installment to “The Selby is in Your Place” involves Hitoshi Uchida, the owner of antique mecca J’Antiques Tokyo. All of the photos were taken at his home in Kamakura, Japan, and provide great perspective and insight to Hitoshi’s rather unique and inspiring living space. Set against a rural backdrop, the large open areas, white wooden walls, and a rugged yet sophisticated freestanding fire-place (not to mention an “every kids dream” indoor swing) all contribute to what is a space that is truly stylish, elegant and cool.

The Selby recently ventured into the home and office of friends and designers Jeff Halmos and Sam Shipley. The latest feature highlights the artistic and often eclectic personal space of the Shipley & Halmos founders. The Unknown Hipster gives an entertaining recount of his photoshoot with The Selby. The Unknown Hipster (aka Jean-Philippe Delhomme) has become an interesting personality in the fashion and art community based on his ability to recreate scenes through his signature illustrative style. Complimenting his own illustrations taken by The Selby is a short commentary on being featured, all of which can be seen here.

Todd Selby once again dabbles into film with a new short film focusing on artist Tom Sachs. The follow-up to his directorial debut, Rockaway Taco once again takes a documentarian route. Working closely alongside Tom Sachs in his workshop, viewers are given a better understanding of the American artist’s creative process and beliefs on art making.

Cult Australian label PAM and its co-founder’s Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey showcase their personal space in this latest The Selby feature. An eccentric couple who boasts talents in both fashion and art, we’re taken on an intimate journey through the art and personal belongings that are seen prominently through their home. Dockers has enlisted the help of fashion and interiors photographer Todd Selby (better known as “The Selby”) to shoot the images for its new “Wear the Pants” campaign. For the project, Dockers selected seven men from around the San Francisco Bay Area who are pursuing their dream jobs including muralist Brian Barneclo, teacher and architect David Burnett, Incase industrial designer Bobby Chang, surfboard shaper Danny Hess, filmmaker Barry Jenkins and sustainable vintners Andrew and Adam Mariani. Following the men on their jobs while they wore pieces from the Dockers collection, Selby was impressed by the quality and range of cuts now offered by Dockers. Retailers who carry the brand include Barney’s, Steven Alan, Urban Outfitters, American Rag, Nordstrom and more.

While The Selby has made a name for himself through his intimate photographic features spanning personalities of all walks of creative life, the medium of film looks to be The Selby’s latest conquest. The short film documents Mitch Alfus, the leather designer and owner of Libra Leather.
