In accounting for yet another one of the more highly anticipated models to be recently unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru presents the 2012 BRZ. Shown here in action, the two-door model boasts a 200 hp 2.0 liter boxer engine. The overall sleek design has garnered favorable reviews, while the lightweight build and low center of gravity results in solid performance. The BRZ has, however, yet to receive pricing.

Subaru has unveiled the latest addition to the company’s line of S series performance vehicles. The WRX STI S206 comes equipped with Bilstein shocks, a flexible strut tower bar up front, as well as a flexible draw stiffener which all help the vehicle outperform the base STI. The 2.5 liter flat four-cylinder engine has been completely reworked so that it’s now churning out 316 horsepower, a bump up from the 305 available from the STI. Outwardly, it features a carbon fiber roof and rear wing amongst other small tweaks. For those of you stateside, you’re out of luck, as the STI S206 is only available in Japan.

The video above puts 2011 Rally America champion David Higgins up against his Subaru Rally Team USA teammate, X-Games star Dave Mirra, in identical Subaru WRX STi rally cars on a course of blitz and calamity through a working steel mill. Produced by Rob Cohen, the top action director and creator of the The Fast and the Furious franchise, Battle Cross is a show slammed with the adrenaline pumping visuals of top drivers in sleek, 400 horsepower cars set on a breakneck course of extreme speed and total mayhem.

A new prototype has been added to the stable of Japanese car manufacturer Subaru for 2013. Previewed at the LA Auto Show, it was given the moniker BRZ Concept STI. This model represents the essence of every sports car; boasting a lightweight design and lower situated engine to amplify torque while maintaining both power and fuel efficiency. Bearing a body like nothing Subaru has offered in the past, sculpted panels and a streamlined physique are congruent with the light and agile car the BRZ Concept STI is being billed as. More information will available on November 30 at the car’s international debut in Tokyo.

On the heels of Ken Block’s insane Gymkhana videos and the groundbreaking snowboarding/rally part to close out DC’s MTN.LAB 1.5 video, the DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Driver has joined with Subaru to make the world’s fastest cat track operation automobile for backcountry access for snowboarding.

The TRAX STI is an experimental automobile that starts with Block’s competition-ready Subaru WRX STI before ditching the tires, adding snow cat tracks, and upgrading to some next-level suspension to create the ultimate backcountry shred car. Prepared by Vermont SportsCar, performance modifications include 400-hp and features Group N competition rally dampers made by EXE-TC and a KAPS 5-speed close-ratio dog-engagement gearbox. Under the hood sits a 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled STI engine tuned with a MOTEC M800 ECU.

Completing the TRAX STI is a sleigh to be pulled behind the car, designed to hold four snowboarders, their snowboards, and all their gear. The sleigh’s body is 100 percent custom designed and constructed of hand-laid fiberglass—though the sleigh is not seen in this teaser video, look for it in future videos next year. Altogether, this is one car ready for backcountry access and snowboarding.
