Branching out from its highly regarded luggage lineup, RIMOWA enters the world of tablet accessories with its recent iPad Case announcement. If its domination of the high-end luggage and travel goods category wasn’t sufficiently apparent, the label applies its trademark hard body case and signature ribbed pattern to a smaller version intended to protect your iPad from the day-to-day chaos. Coming in at a retail of $280 USD, the RIMOWA iPad Case boasts a zipped closure, expected hard case frame mocked up in black leather, and a recognizable, yet understated RIMOWA branding on the lower right corner.

New from RIMOWA, a perennial favorite of the utility-minded jetset including Monocle‘s Tyler Brûlé, comes a new iteration of their popular TOPAS luggage collection. Although the textured, heavy-duty silver aluminum material that RIMOWA usually crafts their bags out of have become a bit of a trademark for them, the polycarbonate grooves in these blacked-out options are equally as aesthetically appealing and recognizable. Known for their incredible durability, the luggage are priced at around $1,090 USD for an entry-level piece.

Celebrating its first anniversary in 2011, the RIMOWA Salsa Air suitcase introduces a new version for 2011 with a bronze-like Cognac colorway. The Salsa Air itself has sold over 100,000 units since its inception and features a lightweight four-wheeled design for easy travel and seamless transportation through any airport. A release is slated for late January at select RIMOWA stockists and flagship stores.

Popular Japanese contemporary retailer/brand United Arrows continues its partnership with Rimowa as they build off their luggage collection announced earlier in the year. Taking on various sizes, the lineup focuses on the Rimowa Salsa, a classic take on the German bagmaker’s aluminum travel companion. This all-white version will see an official release in January 2011, although a pre-order is now taking place through the United Arrows ZOZO Shop.

In 1950, Rimowa presented the first-ever corrugated aluminum case, which quickly became the preferred case of the traveling elite, thanks to its lightweight, superior construction. Recreating those styles from yesteryear, the Cologne-based company now present its new vintage series. Limited to a production run of 1,950 pieces, the series is offered in six different sizes—small suitcases to large travel pieces. Each numbered case is made of aircraft aluminum (duraluminium) and lined in a deep blue moiré interior, staying true to the aesthetics of the original versions. The handles are carved from a single block of aluminum, the result of a complicated, painstaking construction process, and the “retro” style locks display the case’s count within the 1,950 piece series stamped into the aluminum. The vintage series will be available exclusively in Rimowa stores worldwide starting December 2010.

Led Zepplin’s Jimmy Page teams up with RIMOWA on an interesting collaborative project dubbed the “Logo Case”. For the traveling guitarist looking for the perfect travel solution, this simply didn’t exist according to the influential guitar player, Page. The RIMOWA Logo Case features two different models, a signature aluminum version as well as a polycarbonate version, which comes in several colors. The cases are made especially for the iconic Gibson Les Paul guitar. No word yet on sizing or availability.

2010 marks Lane Crawford’s 160th anniversary and to help commemorate the monumental event, the retailer has aligned itself with several brands on special collaboration releases. German luggage-makers Rimowa have developed a massive following for their durable and lightweight polycarbonate suitcases. Having said that, Lane Crawford create an eye-catching version in two-tone blue and orange based on the four-wheeled Salsa model. Surely you’ll have no problem pulling this one off the luggage carousel. Four sizes are available with prices ranging from $4,600 HKD to $5,500 HKD and a release slated for late August.

UNITED ARROWS are at the center of a collaboration involving two separate luggage entities, Germany’s Rimowa and American brand Briefing. Rimowa has been a travel favorite dating back to the brand’s original aluminium suitcases while Briefing’s claim to popularity is the brand’s high-quality, military-spec bags and accessories. Together, UNITED ARROWS commissioned a custom version of the CLASSIC FLIGHT JUMBO TROLLEY, and house within, a series of made-to-fit Briefing bags. The Rimowa x Briefing x UNITED ARROWS Classic Flight will be available starting September 3rd, 2010.

Working once more with Germany’s oldest luggage manufacturer Rimowa, a Bathing Ape have designed this Aluminium-alloy Cabin Trolley, which is to be available in either a Silver or Gold camo. With two handles on alternate sides, the case functions either as a large briefcase or as a small suitcase and should appear at Bape stores any day now for 126,000 YEN.
