Only 19 years old, Schneider – the latest member of Red Bull’s already impressive roster – brings to light what is supposedly a new movement in skateboarding, pushing the traditional boundaries of the likes of casper flips, 360 shove-its and front flip impossibles.

Sid Lee Architecture and Senior Partner/Lead Design Architect Jean Pelland recently completed the construction of Red Bull’s new Amsterdam headquarters. Located in a former shipping yard alongside a retired U-boat, the urban space emphasizes Red Bull’s ability to take their work seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Duality is the theme of the project, with the interior juxtaposing black and white, dark and light, public and private, work and play, arts and industry, and a respect for traditional values with those of modernity. Ultimately, the architecture perfectly combines the simplicity of the industrial space with the performance for which Red Bull is known. The watch face and bezel is carbon fiber, creating a lightweight, yet strong timepiece much like its design inspiration. Building on the Red Bull DNA and established philosophies, the team under the direction of Senior Partner and Lead Design Architect Jean Pelland set out to divide the interior spaces according to the juxtaposition of “reason versus intuition, arts versus the industry, dark versus light, the rise of the angel versus the mention of the beast.” The result of the restored and redesigned former shipbuilding factory is a carefully struck balance of structure, elegance, simplicity and fascination.

On July 23 in Chicago, the nation’s best b-boys will face off during the Red Bull BC One United States qualifier. Throughout four rounds of 1-on-1 battles, the competition will pit city against city and crew against crew. Style will clash with power, toprock with downrock, tight footwork with explosive acrobatics. At the end, only one of the 16 competitors will emerge with the right to call himself the best b-boy in North America. In addition to bragging rights, the victor will earn the chance to represent the United States at the Red Bull BC One World Finals in Moscow, Russia this November. This past weekend, Red Bull Ride + Style attracted more than 5,000 to the Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco. The event was a combination of fixed gear bike culture and contemporary art with a freestyle competition held on a course that featured artwork by local artists. More than 60 riders from the Bay Area, Seattle, Portland, New York and Japan gathered together to show off their tricks and their speed.

Red Bull introduces the world’s smallest velodrome to the UK fixed gear scene. On January 15, 2011, Red Bull Mini Drome will be coming to York Hall in London’s East End. In a UK first, Red Bull will be creating the world’s smallest velodrome to challenge fixed gear riders from across the capital.
