Rob L x Puma Clyde “Archipelago”

Posted by: Staff / May 20, 2008 / Also tagged as: , , , / Comments: 0

Back in 2007, sneaker customizer Rob L officially teamed up with Puma to create the "Archipelago" Clydes, a tribute to the Greek word for range of islands. For 20 years, Rob L has become an incessant fan of the Clyde and Suede profile, beginning with the book "Spraycan Art". The original custom sneakers featured a special technique involving Pantone markers to create the patchy upper, mimicking small concentrations of islands. The popularity of this sneaker has spawned a full production version. Capturing the essence of the original, the Clyde is very much similar to its custom sneaker originator (perhaps the status can be upgraded to sample now). The sneaker will be available in two colors, with a nubuck upper and special padded tongue to ensure the laces are spread wider apart and achieve that "jellyroll" look. A worldwide release date is set for June 21st. Available at Solebox.

Puma Clyde MU (Made In Japan)

Posted by: Staff / May 4, 2008 / Also tagged as: , , / Comments: 0

Arguably one of the most beloved and significant shoes from PUMA’s past, the Clyde has been a part of contemporary sneaker culture since its inception in 1973. This time, Puma gave a material update of the re-issued shoe and added it into their 2008 spring season. Metallic leather is adopted and the word 'Clyde' is written in a cursive font in lower case (in place of the usual block lettering), which gives the luxurious impression. Unlike most sneakers in general, this Made In Japan model all but ensures a high quality product. Source: Mita Sneakers

Puma Clyde “Vintage”

Posted by: Staff / April 17, 2008 / Also tagged as: , , / Comments: 0

The proliferation of vintage treatments to sneakers and its trickle down effect sees the venerable Puma Clyde undergo a faded and weathered look. In all honesty, with suede and its impossible upkeep, this gimmick is all but unnecessary as the first freak rain storm or spilling of beer on your suede Clydes/Suedes will leave the same effect seen here. However, classic colorways seen here definitely shouldn't be overlooked. Look for a worldwide roll out soon. Source: Mita
