J.Crew has seen a longstanding history of joining other iconic brands and labels to co-create unique products and pieces throughout the years. For Spring/Summer 2012, J.Crew joins PRO-Keds to create a custom Royal Master sneaker. True to both brands’ identities, the shoe features an understated aesthetic and is mocked up in mostly tonal white/off-white upper. The classic PRO-Keds “powerstripes” are emblazoned across the anterior outer midsole and a gum undersole finish off the retro tone. Availability is now offered through the J.Crew online store. In celebration of the release of their Throwback Pack that featured the Royal Hi and Royal Lo, PRO-KEDS threw a wildly successful launch party at West NYC on the Upper West Side of Manhattan last Thursday. With DJ Jazzy Jeff and the diabolical Biz Markie handling musical duties all night, the old-school vibe of the sneaker release was captured by two DJ pioneers. Those lucky enough to attend were also given the opportunity to win a raffle that included a chance at the DJ Jazzy Jeff x PRO-Keds 69er which won’t release until September.

Arriving only a few days after the release of the Spring/Summer 2012 Royal Lo in Sport Red, PRO-Keds unveils its latest Royal Hi Black. Retaining much of its original identity as a 1940s basketball staple silhouette, the Royal Hi is mocked up in a black canvas upper and set atop a pure white rubber outsole. Contrasting white laces and stitching reside well alongside brushed metal eyelets and an off-white canvas interior lining. PRO-Keds customary “powerstripes” are embellished across the outer midsole while branding is seen elsewhere on the upper outside ankle with a circular PRO-Keds screen hit. The Royal Hi Black is now available through the PRO-Keds online store for a retail of $55 USD.

PRO-Keds has long been a staple within the world of footwear, originally solidifying its roots as an athletic footwear purveyor off-shoot in 1949. Remaining relevant until today, PRO-Keds reissues its storied Royal Lo in an updated “Sport Red” color iteration. Boasting a customary white outsole, the pair is treated in a colored canvas upper. The red paneling is delineated by contrasting white stitching, brushed metal eyelets and white laces. The classic shoe is rounded out by PRO-Keds’ trademark “powerstripes” along the anterior outer midsole of the shoe. Danish label Norse Projects has teamed up with Pro-Keds on this pair of kicks for 2012 spring/summer. Named the Royal Master, a premium suede construction and cap-toe set this sneaker apart while three colorways with matching laces are available thus far. Subtle details accent this shoe including a rear leather tab and a dual-branded label on the tongue. With this release, Norse Projects uses the classic Pro-Ked silhouette as a canvas, showcasing their reliably stylish and contemporary design aesthetic. A release is set for February 1 at the Norse Store.

PRO-Keds hit a homer at PROJECT with a special collaborative version of its Royal Hi, produced alongside storied baseball bat company Louisville Slugger. Designed using premium baseball glove leather, the shoes sport a beautiful makeup with superior detailing, including embossed branding, cork insoles and even a mini baseball bat keychain. A special box is expected to complete the package which looks to drop later this year.

In this video presented by PRO-Keds, we’re offered a brief glimpse into the world of the Mad Decent crew. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the creative team consisting of Diplo, Paul Devro and Skerrit Bwoy have churned out a slew of club-appropriate mixes and continue their run as fixtures in the party circuit. Following the crew for a short period of time, PRO-Keds was able to sit down with the guys and discuss music, partying and their way of life, even accompanying Skerrity Bwoy to their weekly “Blow Your Head” party at Little Temple in LA.
