Parrot has successfully improved the already impressive AR.Drone with a second generation radio-controlled quadricopter. The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 is extremely durable and features an improved build to withstand stress and wear. It features a 720P high definition camera with a 92-degree wide-angle lens affording a live stream of aerial video feed. Controlled by the AR FreeFlight 2.0 app on an iOS or Android device, this updated model has been fitted with a new pressure sensor and gyroscope for improved altitude control and electronic assistance for better navigational control. It features several control modes, greater interaction with the AR.Drone community, and can even be programmed to automatically fly and record video in Director mode. The Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 will retail in the second quarter of 2012 at $299 USD.

Global leader in wireless technology, Parrot, commissioned famed Parisian product designer Philippe Starck to oversee the creation of a pair of bluetooth headphones. Introduced as the Zik Headphones at the CES 2012 trade show, the makeup has been optimized for casual music enjoyment and simple integration with smartphones as a headset. Featuring the latest wireless technology, Zik utilizes active noise control allowing the internal speakers to mimic the sound depth achieved from surround sound and a bone conduction sensor which detects jaw movement for clearer calls. The highlighting details however may be the intuitive touch panel controlled by finger gestures – swiping up or down changes the volume, while swiping forwards or backwards navigates your tracklist – and a motion sensor that detects when the headphones have been removed, pausing your music immediately. Lastly, the contemporary minimalist design with chic black and metal accents will surely bring elegance to the headphone game that has been dominated by the recent surge in celebrity endorsements. No word yet on the price or participating retailers, but these will sure be a favorite among electronic tastemakers.

Teaming up with highly regarded French product designer Philippe Starck, leading wireless company Parrot create a set of wireless speakers. The new “Zikmu” style incorporates a duo iPhone/iPod dock with Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities. Using a NXT flat panel technology, the “Zikmu” will feature a 360-degree system, pushing out premium sound quality throughout an area rather than creating only one “sweet-spot” so to speak. One of the neatest features is the ability to stream music from a computer or hand-held device directly to the speakers. Standing 2.5′ tall with device recharger and remote control, the columns will retail for a steep $1,500 USD, releasing in the Spring of 2009.
